The robotics showcase was a huge draw on the last day of the Confluence Festival in Grand Rapids. The FIRST Robotics teams, known for their innovative designs and technology, demoed their robots at the Rosa Parks Circle.
Aidan Ferrone, a senior high school student, said his involvement with robotics since sixth grade has greatly influenced his career goals. “I aim to be an electrician, HVAC technician, or welder,” Ferrone shared.
Red Storm Robotics’ coach, Wendy Ljungren, highlighted how the program promotes STEM careers. She mentioned, “A successful technical solution requires creativity. Students gain confidence and a head start for their college education and future careers from our program.”
Confluence will Include New Focus on Aviation
Confluence’s executive director, Brian Cohen, affirmed the festival’s commitment to innovation. “We introduced robotics last year, due to its huge success, we plan on expanding it in the coming years,” Cohen revealed.
