Best Time to View Northern Lights in the Delaware Valley Again This Sunday
Philadelphia Mother’s Day Weather Forecast
Expect a cold and cloudy Mother’s Day in Philadelphia with scattered showers throughout the day. However, it’s not all gloom as the day won’t be a complete washout.
Early rain will give way to intermittent showers peaking around 2 p.m. The showers are expected to subside by late afternoon, and we might even catch a glimpse of the sun as the clouds clear out at sunset.
Daytime highs will hover around the 50s, but more seasonable weather is forecasted to return for the work week.
Weather Pattern for the Coming Week
Monday promises lots of sunshine before rain moves in on Tuesday and Wednesday. On the bright side, the temperature is expected to bounce back to the 60s and 70s.
Chance to Spot the Northern Lights
For those who missed the first two opportunities, Philadelphia offers another chance to
see the aurora borealis late Sunday night thanks to the anticipated clear skies.
Around 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. is the optimal viewing window for the Philadelphia region and Delaware Valley to witness the northern lights, says meteorologist Tammie Souza.
During previous viewings, the northern lights were visible as far south as Florida when Philadelphia was within the viewing oval.
The
geomagnetic storm triggering the northern lights is considered the most potent in more than two decades, and it’s expected to persist throughout the weekend.
