Memorial Hospital of Carthage, Illinois, is excited to present an empowering new series of classes tailored for those living with diabetes or pre-diabetes. This unique six-class program, Diabetes Empowerment: Food and Fitness Series, provides a balanced approach to managing food and fitness to improve your health.

The 30/30/30 Approach to Health

This holistic series adopts the innovative 30/30/30 approach for better health management. It includes 30 minutes of daily exercise, 30 grams of fiber in your daily diet, and 30 grams of protein at every meal. You will get the chance to learn, cook and move towards improved health in a supportive and interactive setting.

The series includes:

Cooking Classes at Memorial Hospital’s Teaching Kitchen

Scheduled for Feb. 19, March 19, and April 16, from 10:30 a.m. to noon. Here, participants can learn to prepare and enjoy a nutritious lunch with guidance from Exercise Physiologist and Registered Dietitian, Kara Andrew. In addition, Kayce Fuhrman, a diabetes educator, will provide helpful tips for managing diabetes.

Fitness Classes at FOCUS Fitness

These classes will take place on March 5, April 2, and April 30, from 10:30-11:30 a.m. Led by Kara Andrew and Kayce Fuhrman, participants will receive a complimentary set of exercise bands. A FOCUS Fitness membership is not required to join these classes.
