WASHINGTON (TND) — Ivanka Trump, former executive vice president at the family’s Trump Organization, testified on Wednesday in the high-profile Trump Organization’s civil fraud trial, claiming she had no role in making her father’s financial statements.

Ivanka Trump’s Role in the Trump Organization

The ongoing trial examines allegations that Donald Trump’s family business, the Trump Organization, misrepresented asset values in “statements of financial condition,” influencing loan and insurance applications. Ivanka Trump provided a calm presence during her testimony, contrasting her father’s more contentious demeanor on the stand earlier in the week.

She mentioned during her testimony that it was her husband, Jared Kushner, who connected her with a banker while the Trumps were seeking financing for the renovation of the Doral golf resort near Miami. All of Trump’s children, including Ivanka, have asserted that they left accounting matters to the company’s accountant.

New York Attorney General’s Case Against the Trumps

Ivanka Trump is currently not a defendant in the lawsuit filed by New York Attorney General Letitia James, which accuses Donald Trump and his business of inflating his wealth on annual financial statements provided to banks, insurers, and other parties. The trial will determine if these claims of conspiracy, insurance fraud, and falsifying business records hold ground.

Addressing reporters, James stated that she expects Ivanka Trump to try distancing herself from the Trump Organization. However, she stressed, “The facts will reveal that she was very much involved…and she’s inextricably tied to the Trump Organization and to these properties that she helped secure financing for.”

Trump Family’s Response to the Lawsuit

President Trump, on the other hand, has disputed the lawsuit claims. After testifying in court on Monday, he insisted that his financial statements significantly underestimated his value and called the civil fraud trial a “disgrace” and a “scam.”

Despite the ongoing legal proceedings, Ivanka Trump retains professional and financial ties to the Trump Organization. She played a crucial role in securing loans and leases for several major projects, including a Washington hotel and a hotel and condo skyscraper in Chicago.

The lawsuit previously included Ivanka as a defendant, but an appeals court dismissed the claims against her in June, citing them as too dated. Still, her testimony was deemed crucial to the case due to her involvement in the Trump Organization and its related activities.
