TL/DR –

The Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta had a successful launch, featuring a drone show and mass ascension of the balloons in perfect weather conditions. However, the mass ascension was slightly delayed due to traffic issues interfering with pilots’ navigation into the park. Despite the delay, the first wave of balloons was able to launch and remained airborne for several hours, with the weather looking promising for the evening’s Balloon Fiesta Glow event.

The Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta kicked off seamlessly. The drone show and mass ascension under clear skies and calm winds at Balloon Fiesta Park left spectators in awe.

Although traffic delayed Mass Ascension slightly, pilots navigated into the park without much trouble. The first fleet of balloons took off slightly later than scheduled but remained airborne for an extended period. Some balloons even attempted a splash and dash in the Rio Grande. Several unique shapes were seen among the balloons that took off on day one.

The weather forecast for the evening suggests ideal conditions for the Balloon Fiesta Glow. The videos linked above provide a comprehensive overview of the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta’s first day.
