In an effort to promote health during flu season, MU Health Care emphasises the importance of staying current with vaccinations. This healthcare provider will host drive-thru flu and COVID-19 vaccine clinics in Columbia at South Providence Medical Park on various Saturdays, the next being from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Eligibility extends to anyone six months and older for flu vaccinations, while updated COVID-19 vaccines are available to those aged five and above. The drive-thru clinics continue on Oct. 12 and Oct. 26.
Chief Medical Officer Dr. Laura Morris from MU Health Care declared the program’s growing popularity, with thousands of vaccines administered in the previous years. Anticipating this year to be another record-setter, the healthcare provider is ready to roll out the initiative.
Those intending to get vaccinated are advised to wear loose clothes and short sleeves, especially children who might receive the shot on their thigh. It’s also important to bring an insurance card and be ready to sign a consent form prior to vaccination.
Dr. Morris encourages everyone older than six months to get both flu and COVID-19 vaccines. She assures that there are no health risks in getting both vaccines simultaneously.Drive-thru vaccination clinics will be available through September and October.
Outside Columbia, walk-in clinic events will be organised in Ashland, Boonville, Mexico, and Jefferson City throughout the month. Fulton Family Health is also set to host a drive-thru vaccination event on Oct. 19, while Mizzou pharmacies provide vaccination appointments through October.
