A tragic accident occurred Saturday morning in Chandler, AZ when a nine-year-old boy was killed and a man, said to be his father, was critically injured. The incident took place close to Loop 101 and Ray Road. According to Chandler police, they responded to a serious accident just after 10:30 a.m.
Upon police’s arrival, they discovered a two-car collision had transpired. One vehicle involved had left the road, mounted the sidewalk and struck the man and boy who were waiting to cross the street. The young boy succumbed to his injuries at the hospital, while the man remains in critical condition.
Identification of the victims has not yet been released. Initial investigations suggest impairment may not have been a factor in the accident. The crash remains under investigation by Chandler Police.
