Empowering Student Voices in Health and Education

Twelve students from the College of Education and Health Professions have collaborated this year to give an insight into the daily life in their various majors and programs, forming the COEHP Highlighters team.

These students, who are enthusiastic about their respective academic courses, are eager to share their experiences with others in the college.

COEHP Highlighters: An Array of Majors and Programs

The team of COEHP Highlighters represents a variety of the college’s majors and programs. This includes nursing, exercise science, communication sciences and disorders, elementary education, education policy, and speech-language pathology.

Josie Stadler, a senior student, joined the Highlighter team to give a louder voice to her positive experiences within the College of Education and Health Professions.

She revealed, “This college has significantly influenced my growth and development. I’m keen on showing how COEHP transforms lives, provides transformative learning experiences, and gets involved on campus.”

The Role of the Highlighters

The Highlighters work closely with the college’s communications team to enhance social media strategies, create marketing projects, and brainstorm ideas to foster relationships with fellow students.

For Caroline Stewart, a senior focusing on communication sciences and disorders, the main impetus to join COEHP Highlighters was to connect with students across the college.

“I enjoy helping others discover their passion. Through this role, I felt I could assist others in finding their purpose and increasing their potential,” she stated.

Anjali Thakkar, a junior nursing student, appreciates the value of establishing connections for personal and professional growth. She aims to share these experiences as a Highlighter.

“Listening to students’ stories inspires me to excel in school and pursue my dreams. I hope to be that motivation for others,” she expressed.

Origins of the COEHP Highlighters

The COEHP Highlighters initiative is part of Dean Kate Mamiseishvili’s WE CARE strategic plan. The plan’s three priorities focus on practical ways faculty, staff, and students can collaborate within the college and across the state to tackle complex issues in education and health.

The application for the Highlighters opens at the end of each academic year. To be eligible, students should have completed at least one full semester in any of the college’s undergraduate or graduate programs.

As the academic year progresses, you can stay updated with the COEHP Highlighters on the College of Education and Health Professions’ social media accounts.
