When does the rain start?

Thunderstorms will arrive in western Massachusetts around or after noon Friday and will reach central Massachusetts around 4 p.m. Most action during the evening commute will be to the north and west of Boston, where the risk of severe thunderstorms is highest.

When does the rain end?

After sunset, storms will drift slowly eastward. The atmosphere will be more stable in eastern Massachusetts Friday night, so a weakening trend for the line of storms is expected. Some clouds and showers will linger overnight over eastern Massachusetts, with a few final showers hugging the coastline on Saturday morning.

Flood risk

This does not appear to be a high-end severe weather outbreak for New England. Primary impacts will be localized flooding (mainly north and west of Boston) and some damaging wind gusts underneath the stronger cells.

Father’s Day weather forecast

Once the showers clear the coast Saturday morning, the weekend looks promising! Father’s Day will feature lots of sunshine, dry air and highs in the 70s, perfect for golf, barbeques or any plans for Dad.
